How an Oral Surgeon Can Manage Wisdom Tooth Care

Having wisdom teeth removed is something the vast majority of young adults go through. This final set of molars can come in awkwardly, and they can put a lot of pressure on the surrounding teeth, or they may not come in at all. If they do not come in, this often puts the nearby molars under a lot of pressure, and can even push them out of alignment. The best way to treat these situations is by extracting the wisdom teeth.

The Process of Removing Wisdom Teeth

Once your wisdom teeth are deemed to be a problem, they need to come out as soon as possible. This is where your oral surgeon can help. They will sedate you sufficiently, remove the teeth, and then have you go home to recover. They may take out one or two at a time, or they may remove all four of them at once. How many they take out coupled with how intricate the extraction was will dictate how long your mouth takes to heal.

We will be part of the process you will go through with the removal of your wisdom teeth. They will see you before the procedure, for the procedure itself, and again after the procedure is over to ensure that your mouth is healing properly. Plus, they will also see you if you experience dry socket, so they can medicate the socket and help you reform a solid clot.

If you struggle with pain in the very back of your mouth that comes from your wisdom teeth coming in or attempting to erupt, then it is important you schedule a consultation with your oral surgeon. We will take x-rays of your mouth and see what is going on with the teeth, then decide what method of treatment is going to be best for you.
