SIGNS YOU MAY HAVE ORAL CANCER

There are many common symptoms that go along with oral cancer. The first, and most common, is having some type of a sore in your mouth that is persistent and just won’t go away. If you bite your cheek or tongue, and have a sore for a few days, that is normal. However, if that sore is there for a few weeks and is not healing, you need to get checked out.

Lumps in your mouth, throat, or neck are also signs that you may have oral cancer. These lumps tend to grow after they are first noticed, and they can cause discomfort. However, not all of them are directly painful. Some just cause pressure on surrounding tissue, causing your discomfort.

Changes in the tissues of your mouth is another sign to be on the lookout for. You may notice that the inside of your cheek or your gums start to get thicker. The tissue may feel leathery, and it may also be lumpy.

Should anything not feel right, you need to go in and get seen. Oral cancer is highly treatable in most cases, so long as it gets caught early. Don’t wait. If you have any questions, or if you would like to learn more, please call us today at (512) 643-6060.
